Landmark art moderne building in Vancouver torn down for social housing project

After sitting empty for a quarter of a century, a former Salvation Army temple in Vancouver has been torn down for a proposed social housing project. “It was a very sophisticated example, (with) beautiful windows that faced Hastings Street that were a real public gesture,” said heritage expert Don Luxton.
