A man has driven his vehicle through the front doors of a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and shot at least 10 people, killing two of them, local police in the US state of Michigan say. The gunman was fatally shot by police after allegedly setting fire to the building. “My heart is breaking for the Grand Blanc community,” Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer said in a statement posted to social media. The shooting occurred the morning after Russell M Nelson, the oldest-ever president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died at 101. The next president of the Mormon church is expected to be Dallin H Oaks, per church protocol.
