Moroccan Paralympic sprinter Aymane El Haddaoui won the bronze medal in the men’s 100 meters T47 on Saturday at the World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi, giving Morocco its first medal of the competition, Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) reported. El Haddaoui finished the race in 10.70 seconds, just behind Brazil’s Petrucio Ferreira dos Santos, who took gold in 10.66, and China’s Shi Kangjun, who placed second with 10.68. “I am very happy because it’s my best performance of the year,” El Haddaoui told MAP. At the Paris 2024 Paralympics, El Haddaoui won gold in the 400 meters with a new world record and took bronze in the 100 meters. The championships run through October 5 and bring together more than 1,000 athletes competing in 186 medal events, including 101 men’s, 84 women’s, and one mixed event.
