On September 22, 1998, Trick Daddy dropped his sophomore album www.thug.com, and with it, Miami rap made its permanent mark on the national stage. Following his debut Based on a True Story, Trick Daddy doubled down on his raw storytelling and authentic Miami perspective. The project’s breakout hit, “Nann N***a,” introduced the world to Trina, who stole the spotlight with her fiery debut and went on to become the “Baddest Chick” in hip hop. 8 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart, and was certified gold by the RIAA. More than numbers, though, www.thug.com established Slip-N-Slide Records as a powerhouse and paved the way for Miami’s lasting influence on hip hop.
