Accolades: Mechanical Engineering Professor Named ASME Fellow

Dr. Dong Qian, professor of mechanical engineering at The University of Texas at Dallas, has been named a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
The Department of Mechanical Engineering has attracted a number of early career faculty, so as a fellow, I am most excited that I am now in a position to nominate others.”Dr. Joshua Summers, head of the department, nominated Qian for the honor.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in bridge engineering from Tongji University in China, a Master of Science in civil engineering from the University of Missouri and a PhD in mechanical engineering from Northwestern University.
“I am excited to begin this new appointment with education leaders across the country to guide and support the work of the College Board,” Hinojosa said.
