The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion held the event, whose theme was “Shining the Light: Promoting Inclusion through Unity,” on June 9 at the Davidson-Gundy Alumni Center. Dr. Yvette E. Pearson, vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion, thanked the honorees for their service. “We cannot accomplish our goals without the contributions and efforts of all the champions of diversity who help make UT Dallas an equitable, inclusive and welcoming campus,” Pearson said. UT Dallas first presented the diversity awards in 2010 to recognize the accomplishments of champions of UTD’s diversity mission, goals and programs. Student Organization AwardMédecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), UT Dallas chapter (Psychology junior Zaina Syed accepted the award on behalf of the group.)
