BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - A large mural in downtown Burlington was vandalized overnight after the first day of painting. Saturday and Sunday were designated as Community Paint Days, where everyone is invited out to come and help paint the mural. Much of the wall was painted with big chunks of color Saturday, and the painting wrapped up in the afternoon, set to continue Sunday morning at 10 a.m.Burlington community mural vandalized after first day of painting (WCAX)Then, early Sunday morning, pictures surfaced on social media showing much of the mural had been vandalized with graffiti. When Channel 3 crews got there around 9 a.m. Sunday, people were already there and beginning to paint over the graffiti. They told Channel 3 they plan on moving ahead with the Community Paint Day and continue painting the mural until it’s complete, which is expected to be on Wednesday.
