Rules aside, the aesthetics and general vibes of the game perfectly nailed what was the prominent feel of D&D at the time. Baldur’s Gate 2 has a sprawling array of quests, and few, if any, feel underdeveloped or “filler”. Even a last-minute dungeon can feel alive once you start considering things like: What is the purpose of this place? Baldur’s Gate 2 taught me that rules don’t necessarily have to be easy to be good. As I look back at these past 25 years, I realize just how much Baldur’s Gate 2 has changed my life.
