I just had this thought pop into my head and was wondering if anyone could shed some light (no pun intended) on why this is wrong, because I know it must be, but cant figure out why. So basically, everything that is past the event horizon of a black hole can never make it back out due to the gravity, that much I understand, but isnt there space between the edge of the event horizon the the singularity? Like if something, we'll use light just as an example, gets sucked into a black hole, wouldn't it have to be moving faster than the speed of light? like as its getting dragged into the singularity? I figure I am missing something pretty fundamental about black holes but I'm not sure what
