Next in the series is the Zig Zag Stanza, led by Stanza rep Rachel Piercey. Zig Zag Stanza was founded in Spring 2022. I started it after running a few online children’s poetry courses for The Poetry School. Indeed, the Stanza is named after Causley’s poem ‘As I Went Down Zig Zag’ – Zig Zag is a set of steep, winding steps in his hometown of Launceston. Children’s poetry is as capacious as adult poetry, so each month will find formal poems, concrete poems, free verse – the full range of imaginative, linguistic play you’d expect in any poetry workshop.
