A two-course meal with a beer costs around 50 yuan ($8), which I think is very reasonable for a capital city. The beer with the meal costs around 10 yuan. However, what I would like to know is why a so-called craft beer in one of those Western-style places costs upwards of 50 yuan? I read a while ago that a large Chinese brewing enterprise intends to get into the craft beer business because it off ers higher profit margins. Start churning out a good craft beer at a decent price and watch those profits roll in.
