At the start of that year a previous bi newsletter BiFrost had closed down after four years of publishing, itself a successor to the 1980s London Bi Group magazine Bi Monthly. Abroad the USA had a chunky bi+ mag, Anything That Moves (offering its own take on the acronym question – FABGLITTER, fetish allies bisexual gay lesbian intersex transgender transsexual engendering revolution) – alongside regional titles like Bisexual Tribune in Chicago, or Boston’s Bi Women and North Bi North West in Seattle. Bi Community News went online in 1996 as a part of the bi.org community web server. So we were able to celebrate that with covers reflecting how much more visible bis have become in the public eye and media beyond BCN and bi community spaces. So 2016 saw a shift from cover photos of willing attendees at bi events or odd bi flag coloured props to bi+ actors or those playing bi+ roles in TV and film.
