The Dutch darting star was enjoying a rare weekend off after opting against competing in the Swiss Darts Trophy. The incident, which was caught on video and subsequently shared on social media, showed Van Gerwen and four other men involved in the altercation. One of those involved appeared to be throwing punches, with Van Gerwen grappling with another figure before being pulled away from the scrap. The Dutchman is currently ranked 103rd on the Players Championship Order of Merit and so needs some positive results to ensure he finishes in the top 64 and qualifies for the Players Championship Finals.
