$200b more in proposed tariffs criticized

China Daily > HomePage
The Office of the US Trade Representative proposed 10 percent tariffs on Tuesday on a list of thousands of Chinese product lines.
The fresh move followed last Friday's imposition of 25 percent tariffs on $34 billion in Chinese products, which Beijing reciprocated by targeting American exports of the same value.
Jay Timmons, president of National Association of Manufacturers, also said that the last thing America's manufacturing workers need is an escalating trade war.
Instead of more tariffs, the US and China should immediately begin working toward a fair, bilateral, enforceable, rules-based trade agreement, Timmons said on Tuesday following the trade representative's proposed tariffs.
Reckless tariffs do not make a trade strategy."
