A committee Tuesday voted unanimously to advance the nomination of Todd Bouey as general manager overseeing the retirement system for Los Angeles city workers. The Los Angeles City Employees’ Retirement System Board of Administration approved Mayor Karen Bass’ nominee, who will next face the City Council’s Personnel and Hiring Committee. As general manager of LACERS, one of the city government’s most important financial institutions, Bouey would hold fiduciary responsibility for a $26 billion pension fund. Bouey has been the interim general manager since December after previously serving as assistant general manager. “The LACERS general manager is key in our work to ensure overall stability of the city by protecting the financial security of our city workforce’s pensions,” Bass said in a statement.
