More infoHeartbreaking tributes are being paid to a father of two hailed as "one of life's true gentlemen” after his tragic death in a motocross accident on Sunday. Stephen McCarthy, aged in his 40s, had been riding a motorbike at the Vernon Mount motocross track on the southside of the city when he was involved in a crash at around 12:45pm on Sunday afternoon. Sadly, Stephen, of Riverstick and Skibbereen in Cork, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Requiem mass will take place on Wednesday at 2.30pm in St. Joseph's Church, Riverstick followed by burial at Cullen Cemetery, Cullen, Riverstick, Cork. One mourner penned: “Our sincere sympathy to Avril, Lilly, Bonnie, Caroline and Family and to all the McCarthy families and Mc Sweeney families on the sad passing of Stephen.
