ROBBIE McGuigan produced a gritty green-to-black clearance in the deciding frame of his encounter against He Guoqiang to reach the third round of the Unibet British Open in Cheltenham on Tuesday afternoon. The 21-year-old from Antrim had led 2-1 and 3-2 but a break of 65 from the Chinese player sent the match the distance. McGuigan, playing in his second season as a pro, took a 41-point lead but a superb long red from Guoqiang opened up the frame. Mark Allen, winner of the BetVictor English Open on Sunday night, will play his round-one game on Tuesday evening against Jiang Jun. Allen’s 9-8 win over Zhou Yuelong in Brentwood has pushed him up three places on the ranking list to number seven.
