Ramp closures coming to I-86 in Corning for overnight paving

Drivers in Corning should prepare for a series of overnight ramp closures along Interstate 86 next week as road crews begin a major paving project.
The New York State Department of Transportation says ramps at Exits 46, 47, and 48 will close in both directions on a rotating schedule starting Monday, September 29, through Monday, October 6.
All closures will run from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.Here’s the full ramp closure schedule:Monday, Sept. 29 : Westbound on/off-ramps at Exit 46 (Watkins Glen / Corning): Westbound on/off-ramps at Exit 46 (Watkins Glen / Corning) Tuesday, Sept. 30 : Eastbound on/off-ramps at Exit 46: Eastbound on/off-ramps at Exit 46 Wednesday, Oct. 1 : Eastbound on/off-ramps at Exit 47 (Gibson / Corning): Eastbound on/off-ramps at Exit 47 (Gibson / Corning) Thursday, Oct. 2 : Westbound on/off-ramps at Exit 47: Westbound on/off-ramps at Exit 47 Friday, Oct. 3 : Eastbound on/off-ramps at Exit 48 (East Corning): Eastbound on/off-ramps at Exit 48 (East Corning) Monday, Oct. 6: Westbound on/off-ramps at Exit 48After that, intermittent short-term closures will continue from 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, through 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8 at all three exits.
Drivers urged to slow down in work zonesDOT officials warn drivers to expect delays and use alternate routes when possible.
They’re also reminding motorists that speeding fines are doubled in work zones, and multiple violations can lead to a suspended license.
