An asteroid the size of a building has a small chance of hitting the moon in 2032, and it could shake lunar science to its core. This would far exceed any lunar seismic activity detected to date, including past Apollo experiments. Whether or not asteroid 2024 YR4 collides with the moon, the event has already sparked extensive preparations and scientific planning.
