Share this: TweetWhatsAppThe President of Togo and the mediator between Rwanda and the DRC, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, is on a working visit to Rwanda, starting on the evening of Thursday, January 29, 2026.
President Gnassingbé, upon his arrival in Kigali, was received at Kanombe International Airport by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olivier Nduhungirehe, for talks.
On April 12, 2025, the AU General Assembly entrusted President Gnassingbé with the mandate to act as a mediator to help Rwanda and the DRC resolve their conflict.
President Lourenço then presented to the leaders of the African Union (AU) the dossier of Faure Gnassingbé as a candidate to replace him as mediator.
President Gnassingbé returned to Rwanda after a two-day working visit to Kigali in January 2025, where he held talks with his counterpart Paul Kagame, agreeing to further promote cooperation between the two countries.
