Regulator hits EDF with improvement notice at Hartlepool Power Station

The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) has issued an improvement notice to EDF following an incident at Hartlepool Nuclear Power Station when two employees came into contact with pressurised hydraulic oil.
Hydraulic oil release led to both employees attending hospital as a precautionary measure, with no risk to nuclear safety, the public or the environment according to the ONR.
“We will engage with EDF during the period of the improvement notice to ensure positive progress is made to address this shortfall.”Compliance deadline set for AprilONR issued the improvement notice under Licence Condition 28 (LC28) and set a deadline of 17 April 2026 for EDF to comply with the improvement notice.
An EDF spokesperson told Energy Voice: “Safety is our overriding priority and we are committed to ensuring that Hartlepool power station is a safe place to work.
