Alex Ibbetson, 34, punched his then 68-year-old victim in his front garden, after smashing him over the head with a wooden chopping board. As he kicked his older victim, Ibbetson shouted: "You're going to die because I'm a maniac. Mr Abrahams said that Ibbetson had attacked the man in anger after his victim refused him cash; and that he has a "mental impairment". The judge said that the victim has suffered "life-changing injuries" and that he will "never be the same again".
