The Boulder Valley School District will remain open Friday despite an anticipated staffing shortage amid nationwide ICE out protests. Nearly a quarter of the district’s teachers called out of work for Friday, according to a Thursday district press release. The announcement comes ahead of Friday’s nationwide ICE Out protests, which include a general strike spurring people to skip school, work and refrain from patronizing businesses. The nationwide day of protests follows the deaths of Renée Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis and immigration crackdown tactics in Minnesota. The district’s School Age Care, a program for students before and after the normal school hours, will operate as normal, the district said.
