Rabat – Despite receiving what many see as light sanctions following a chaotic Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 final, Senegal has announced it will appeal the decision of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). CAF revealed its disciplinary rulings on Wednesday after the heated final between Senegal and host nation Morocco in Rabat. The match was marked by protests, Senegal players leaving the field mid-game, and vandalism involving Senegalese supporters. Senegal head coach Pape Thiaw was suspended for five CAF matches and fined $100,000 for encouraging his players to walk off the pitch. That walkout triggered further disorder, as Senegalese players stormed the field and attacked stadium staff.
