The Federal Government has approved the construction of a N1 trillion Metropolitan Rail Service in Kano State, marking a major step toward transforming urban transportation and boosting economic growth in the state. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf announced the approval while addressing members of the Kano State contingent who participated in the 2025 National Qur’anic Recitation Competition held in Borno State on Thursday evening. The service will connect key districts across Kano metropolis, improve mobility, facilitate trade, and attract local and foreign investment. He described the rail service as a landmark intervention that will reposition Kano as a major transportation hub in Northern Nigeria and significantly enhance the quality of life of its residents.
