Published 2:10 am Friday, January 30, 2026EL CAMPO — Debra Darline Cates-Cook, 68, of Lufkin, Texas, passed away November 14, 2025, at Saint Luke’s Medical Center in Houston. Debra earned a B.S. She is survived by her husband, Ken Cook; stepson, Kent Cook; sister in law, Kathy Cook; extended family; and lifelong friend, Myron Kay Fudge. She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy Ray and JoAnn Martin Cates; her son, David Bradley Slaughter; and her two brothers, Marty Ray Cates and Billy Joe Cates. A celebration of life service will be held April 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing, Texas.
