If I am going to move forward with looking for grant money (through 911) I need some type of commitment from the county government to allow 911 to relocate or occupy that space at the old health department building. According to Mullinax, the 911 center needs a new home. It has served us well but the space was never really designed appropriately for a 911 center. Meanwhile construction is underway for a new DeKalb County Health Department complex being built next to the existing location on Tiger Drive. According to Michael Railling, Director of the DeKalb Health Department, the new complex will offer 10 clinic rooms as opposed to six currently and continue offering primary care services.
