The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Dauda Lawal of using security operatives attached to the Government House to harass and arrest opposition members. The APC said it had mobilised lawyers to take legal action if victimisation persisted, urging members to remain calm. PDP spokesman Haliru Andi insisted that Governor Lawal had not victimised opposition members, saying he had governed Zamfara as “one united family” since taking office in 2023. Andi added that Lawal considered himself governor of all Zamfara residents, not just PDP supporters, and had focused on development since assuming office. “The people of Zamfara State can attest to the fact that since the governor assumed office in 2023, he has been committed to developing a state that had for years been neglected,” he said.
