In an email sent to all season ticket holders on Wednesday, Pitt Athletic Director Allen Greene announced that Pitt will lower its seating capacity at Acrisure Stadium. Starting next year, Pitt will close off the upper east and west sides of its home turf to attendees, lowering the overall capacity in the stadium for Pitt football games to 51,416. The north endzone upper deck will remain available, and Pitt is keeping its student seating capacity — primarily, the Panther Pitt — at 10,000 seats. “You’ve told me you want a better home field advantage, one that ignites our team, and reflects your passion for Pitt Football. While poor field conditions sparked the majority of the debate this past season, attendance issues were also a common talking point among pundits.
