(Image: Caitlin James)Councillors are set to dispute the city council’s refusal to pay a homeless man the full amount of compensation ordered by the government. ‌Deputy City Mayor, Councillor Elly Cutkelvin said Leicester City Council is happy to fork out £500 to acknowledge the “distress and uncertainty caused” to Mr X, but is withholding the other £3,525. The request to “call in” the council’s decision was backed by councillors from the Green, Conservative, and Liberal Democrat parties. “We calculate this exposure to be £250k for Leicester City Council, and many millions of pounds nationally.
