‌We visited residents in Whetstone, specifically those living close to the Whetstone Brook, an area that was flooded in January last year after the brook burst its banks. ‌Record-breaking floods forced hundreds of Leicestershire residents from their homes at the start of 2025, as the emergency services responded to more than 380 calls in 24 hours. ‌"It's got to the point that I worry every time it rains now, and just keep looking out of the window. The proof is in the pudding, as they say, and I would not be surprised if the area floods again." ‌Last October, a £2million programme to tackle flooding in Leicestershire was approved by the county council.
