Dozens of offences including taxis with balding tyres have been uncovered at a Leicester traffic stop operation. The vehicle stop operation took place on Monday this week (January 26) in Belgrave Road, Belgrave and saw officers from Leicestershire Police, the DVLA and officials from Leicester City Council conduct a number of traffic stops. During the two-and-a-half-hour operation, officers uncovered dozens of offences, including taxis with balding tyres, mobile phone use by drivers and illegally tinted windows. As well as more than 30 offences dealt with by the police officers, DVLA and city taxi inspectors found a dozen issues relating to commercial vehicles, including taxis. There were 15 taxis checked in total during the operation, and three of the vehicles licensed by Leicester City Council were found to have tyres under the required thickness.
