Civil servants said the crematorium could go ahead only once a manufacturing facility and construction skills academy was up and running. Both were part of the same application, with the factory and academy set to provide up to 150 jobs. And it has lodged a new planning application seeking to drop the ruling so it can build the crematorium first. Fife councillors originally refused permission for the entire development at Southfield Industrial Estate in May 2024. At the time, the applicants said the crematorium would be financed by the skills academy and manufacturing facility next door.
