Classic car fans gathered at Stirling Castle to see the Monte Carlo classic rally pass through the city on Thursday 29 January. Ahead of the rally cars’ arrival a free Monte Fest took place in front of the castle. The event featured live music, street food and a display of classic cars, giving fans the chance to spend time up close with the vehicles and meet some of the competitors. The rally marks the 100th anniversary of the Monte Carlo rally, when drivers first set out from the far north of Scotland to travel more than 1,500 miles to Monte Carlo. Around 50 crews are recreating that journey, using cars from different eras, including several dating back to the early years of the event.
