Cork Luas update after wave of calls for Carrigaline, airport and Northside stopsThe NTA said there could still still be changes to the routeView 2 Images Cork LUAS on Patrick Street - ignore the Robo Trees on the left - they're gone (Image: IR)The National Transport Authority (NTA) has confirmed that a second public consultation on the proposed Cork Luas line will take place in the next couple of months after a huge number of Leesiders submitted submissions on the current plan. ‌However, not everyone was happy - there was huge community activity to push for the plans to include a second line that would serve busy areas like Carrigaline, Cork Airport, Glanmire and the city's Northside. ‌The calls for the North-South line have been echoed by Cllr Peter Horgan, chair of the Cork City council Transport Committee. The Labour politician said: "I reiterate we should be implementing spurs to the Airport and towards Douglas and Carrigaline to future proof the light rail ecosystem along with enhancing the northside areas that won't be supported under the Cork Commuter Rail project. "Rail is by far the fastest moving alternative to single occupancy vehicles and the Cork Commuter Rail is a success story that I want to see replicated over the river on the southside especially."
