Court Nullifies PDP National Convention In Ibadan

advertisementA Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan has nullified the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention held in the Oyo State capital on November 15, 2025, declaring it invalid.
In its ruling, the court also barred members of the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC) from parading themselves as national officers of the party.
Story continues below advertisementDelivering judgment on Friday, the court held that the Caretaker Committee led by Mohammed Abdulrahman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu remains the only recognised leadership of the PDP pending the conduct of a valid national convention.
The PDP has been mired in a leadership tussle since its dismal performance in the 2023 general elections, with multiple factions claiming its national leadership.
Story continues below advertisementMeanwhile, PDP on Friday moved quickly to steady nerves within its ranks after the Federal High Court in Ibadan declined to grant an order of mandamus in a case linked to the party’s internal leadership dispute, insisting that the Turaki–led structure that emerged from the Ibadan Convention remains firmly in place.
