The Fleet-based land promoter secured outline planning permission for 140 homes on the same site from Somerset Council's planning committee south in November 2023 – though the outline legal agreements were not signed off until March 2025.
Of the 140 homes planned for the site, 49 will be affordable – meeting the council's target of 35 per cent affordable housing within any new development of ten homes or more within the former South Somerset area.

"The proposal will provide a positive contribution to the village in an appropriate form and scale."
