The Pullman Police Department announced that authorities will not be assisting the federal government in its immigration enforcement efforts, and will continue to uphold Washington state law. The news release noted that the department is not aware of any current ICE activity in or around the city of Pullman. The Washington State University Police confirmed in a Wednesday Facebook post that rumors about ICE being on the Pullman campus are false. Authorities at Pullman Police Department are certified peace officers of the state of Washington, and they don’t enforce federal laws, which include immigration. Officers abide by policies outlined by the state that the news release said includes the Keep Washington Working Act, which restricts local law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration civil enforcement.
