Jade Smith, of Oldford Walk, Stourport, was due to be sentenced on Wednesday (January 28) for causing serious injury by careless driving in a crash, as well as failing to stop and driving without insurance. But the case was rescheduled and Smith will now be sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court on March 31. Victim Harry Shaw said he was "frustrated that the case was taking so long to go through the courts." Smith, aged 35, has admitted causing serious injury by careless driving in a crash, as well as failing to stop and driving without insurance. The offence of causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving carries a maximum penalty of two years in prison, a mandatory minimum 12-month driving disqualification, and potential fines.
