The George Hotel, in High Street, serves the traditional afternoon treat in a stylish and whimsical venue on the bottom floor of the hotel. Now, the part of the 500-year-old hotel will undergo a major revamp, with a new concept arriving in March. In a statement, the hotel said: “Tea at the George will be closing its doors Sunday, March 1, as we prepare for our next exciting refurbishment project here at The George. "Afternoon tea will be available Thursday- Saturday and bookable via our website. “The team at the George and Tea at the George would like to thank you for your continued support over the last 5 years, and we can’t wait to share what’s coming next.
