Emergency services attended the B6271 near the Streetlam turnoff, Northallerton, at around 6.55pm on Tuesday (January 27). Despite the efforts of people who stopped to help and emergency service responders, the woman who was driving the Kia was pronounced dead. The road was closed until just after 1am on Wednesday to allow the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit to attend and for the vehicle to be recovered. A spokesperson for the police force said: "We're investigating a crash in which a woman in her 70s sadly died.
