Donald Trump is suing the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Treasury Department for $10 billion, alleging that the agency unlawfully leaked his tax returns during his first term. In 2019 and 2020, former IRS contractor Charles Littlejohn shared Trump's tax returns with media outlets including The New York Times and ProPublica. Newsweek has contacted the White House, the IRS and the Treasury Department for comment by email outside of normal working hours. Earlier this week, the Treasury Department cancelled $21 million in contracts with Booz Allen Hamilton, Littlejohn's former employer, over the breach. The case was filed in the Southern District of Florida, and included Donald J. Trump Jr. and Eric Trump as Executive Vice Presidents at The Trump Organization as plaintiffs.
