Two states have ordered flags to fly at half-staff on Friday and into the weekend in honor of local public servants.
West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey said in a news release: "John Overington was a conservative warrior, a gentleman, and a friend to all who knew him.
West Virginia owes him a debt of gratitude for his impeccable public service, his positive energy, and a life well lived.
What Happens NextNew York's observance is scheduled to be held on January 30, with flags at half-staff on state government buildings for that day.
West Virginia's flags are expected to remain lowered in the designated locations until sunset on the day of interment.
