Prolonged dangerous cold will persist across central Pennsylvania through the weekend, with record-challenging minimum temperatures expected Thursday and Friday nights. The National Weather Service in State College has issued a cold weather advisory in effect until 10 a.m. Friday. Additional Cold Weather Advisories may be needed for Friday and Saturday nights as the extreme cold continues. These winds, combined with the continuing cold temperatures, will create uncomfortable conditions outdoors. Aviation forecasts indicate mainly dry conditions through the weekend before this potential light snow develops later Monday into early Tuesday.
