“We changed up our defense a little in the second half and went to more zone defense and it worked for us. The Cougars (5-6, 9-10) came out and cut the Shanahan lead to 51-50 after three periods, outscoring the Eagles 17-11 in the third. “We went to a zone and we upped our energy in the second half,” Vinson said. The junior could hit just 1-2 from the line and the Cougars lead was 62-61. “We had some looks in the second half but they would not go down,” Shanahan coach John Dougherty said.
