The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has issued suspensions and fines against Morocco and Senegal for misconduct during the African Cup of Nations final. CAF said the sanctions were issued in line with its disciplinary framework and aimed at reinforcing matchday conduct standards across African football. Pape Bouna Thiaw, the head coach of Senegal, received a five-match suspension for official CAF games for what the CAF called unsporting behaviour that damaged the sport’s reputation and breached fair play and integrity rules. Two Senegal players, Iliman Cheikh Baroy Ndiaye and Ismaila Sarr, received two-match bans for unsporting behaviour towards the referee during the final. The FSF received an additional $15,000 penalty after five Senegal players were cautioned in the match, an offence classified as team misconduct under CAF regulations.
