The pollution is affecting the River Camel Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and has led to a temporary ban on house building and other development in the area. To ensure that new development does not lead to more pollution, the council can only approve those that are 'nutrient neutral'. It improves water quality in the River Camel and helps us move forward on our priorities."
