The 15 musicians of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, including Wynton Marsalis, proved that with their Hancher performance on Jan. 29. When I entered the Hancher auditorium, my eyes immediately went to the stage, where a projector screen with an ombre of pink, purple, and red colors caught my eye. Marsalis had a trumpet solo in this piece, ringing out high and low notes that garnered cheers from the audience. The projector screen had changed to green and yellow as bass player Carlos Henriquez played a fantastic solo. The whole piece was energetic as solo after solo was performed with passion, and it looked like they were having fun.
