Uisce Éireann expects that repairs will be complete by 10pm tonight.
"Water has now been restored to the vast majority of homes and businesses in north Dublin following this morning’s burst water main in Fairview, with repair works continuing to progress well," said an Uisce Eireann update.
The major burst took place on a large water main at Edge’s Corner, Fairview Park in north Dublin.
Uisce Éireann crews attended the scene promptly, working alongside An Garda Síochána, Dublin Fire Brigade and expert teams from Dublin City Council.
