Uttlesford District Council is set to increase rent for its tenants by 4.8 per cent for 2026/27.
The average increase in weekly rents would be £6.22, leading to an average weekly rent payable by council tenants of £135.83.
The council documents state the increase is an average rent and individual rental figures depend on the number of beds and when the tenancy began.
The council is a landlord to 2,800 council housing tenants.
